Hold fn.
Talk.
It’s done.
Nova turns what you say into clean text in any app, rewrites what you selected, or, when you start with “Hey Nova,” does the task for you.
Speech is recognized on your Mac by default. Pick the AI yourself — a model on your machine, or Groq’s cloud models when you want more power.
Press and hold the button, or hold Space. Let go when you’re done.
It reads the moment, so you don’t switch modes.
Nova decides what you want from what’s on screen and how you start. Nothing selected means dictation. Text selected means an edit. Starting with “Hey Nova” means a task.
Dictate
Fillers, false starts and “no, I mean Thursday” are cleaned up before the text lands in your app.
“um the deadline is monday i mean tuesday”
→ The deadline is Tuesday.
Edit
Say how to change it. Shorter, friendlier, bullet points, another language. The selection is replaced in place.
“turn this into bullet points”
Ask
Drafts emails and replies, switches apps, clicks and fills in fields, answers quick questions out loud — and remembers a few lasting facts to skip the preamble next time.
“Hey Nova, reply to this saying Thursday works”
Your voice doesn’t leave your Mac.
Nova is built for people who would rather not stream their microphone to someone else’s server.
On-device speech recognition
Transcription uses Apple’s speech engine with cloud recognition turned off.
Local or cloud — you choose
Run a model on your Mac with LM Studio and nothing leaves it, or switch to Groq’s cloud models from the menu bar when you want more power.
Memory stays on your Mac
Nova notices a lasting fact now and then — your name, a preference, a correction — and keeps it in a local file, never the cloud. See it, edit it, or erase it anytime in Settings.
Every step on the record
A built-in log shows each prompt, response, tool call and token count, so you can see exactly what happened.
Teach it the names it keeps getting wrong.
Add product names, people and jargon once. Nova listens for them, fixes the usual mishearings and spells them the way you do. It also learns the names of the apps on your Mac.
Be one of the first to talk to Nova.
We’re letting people in a few at a time so we can tune Nova with them. Leave your email and we’ll send your invite with a download link.
Good to know
Which apps does it work in?
Anywhere you can type: mail, chat, docs, browsers, code editors, AI assistants. Nova pastes at your cursor, and you can give each app its own writing style.
Do I need an internet connection?
Not with a local model and on-device speech, which is the default. Switch either one to the cloud from the menu bar when you want to.
Which models can I use?
Any server that speaks the OpenAI chat API: LM Studio, Ollama, llama.cpp, or Groq’s cloud, including GPT-OSS 120B and Whisper Large v3 Turbo with your own key. Commands work best with a model that supports tool calling.
Does Nova remember things about me?
Only if you let it. After a “Hey Nova” request, it may keep one short fact — a name, a preference, a correction — in a local file, never sent anywhere else. Review or erase it anytime in Settings → Memory, or turn the whole thing off.
Will it send things without asking?
No. Nova types drafts for you to review. It only presses Send, Submit or Delete when you explicitly tell it to.
What does early access cost?
Nothing. Early users get Nova free while we shape it together.
What languages does it understand?
The languages your Mac can dictate on-device, including English, Ukrainian, German, Spanish and French. Replies keep the language you spoke.
